The Garden at French Farm
GARDEN
David and Lori Balls
104 French Farm Valley Road, French Farm
The garden covers 11 acres and is bisected by Te Waimangu Stream. Follow the path as it meanders through perennial gardens, to the ‘Macrocarpa House’, then back through the ‘Amphitheatre’ and over the stream with its long-finned eels. Pass through the rear lawn, with its stand of cabbage trees, to the Australasian garden. Visit with the three-hundred-year-old Pokaka tree, a Notable Tree of New Zealand, in one of the two native blocks covered by QEII covenants. After recrossing the stream, you arrive at the daffodil lawn and pond, then on past the orchards with our free-ranging chooks and vegetable garden.
